Create a Vision Board That Works

Updated: Oct 31

A vision board or a dream board is typically a collage of images and affirmations that represent your goals and aspirations in life. It serves as a visualization tool to bring about motivation and get you inspired to work towards your goals.

If you've come across the concept of the Law of Attraction, you must be familiar with a vision/manifestation board and how people use it in manifesting their goals and desires. The images in your vision board can be a combination of material things, a certain feeling, or even a lifestyle change.

Are Vision Boards Effective?

Now that we know the purpose of a vision board, you must be curious if they actually work. I was a bit skeptical in the beginning, myself. I've created many vision boards in the past and a few of my goals did manifest, in like a year or two. So, in my opinion, they are effective. In the past year, I've manifested almost 3-4 goals which are huge for me.

Before we go any further, I just want to put this out there. Creating a vision board will not give you results overnight, obviously. Manifesting your goal takes time and effort, and needs active participation from your end as well.

As a firm believer in the Law of Attraction, the universe gives you what you strongly believe in. I know this stuff sounds all fluffy and too good to be true but I've experienced it first hand. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to share this post so that you can create your dream life too.

Types of Vision Board

Since vision boards are a pictorial representation of your goals, you can either make a physical or digital version of them. Follow what appeals to you and start putting together images that depict your goals in some way. You can use a journal, a poster board, or wired boards to put up these pictures. There are three ways to making a vision board.

1. The Cut & Paste Method

  • You can collect pictures from magazines, books, and newspapers.

  • Cut them out and paste them on a poster board, notebook, or journal.

2. Printing Pictures

  • Select the pictures that you want on your board.

  • Print them out and stick them in your journal or board.

  • This gives you more options, making it highly customizable.

3. Digital Vision Board

  • Collect pictures of your choice online and make a collage.

  • You can also use Pinterest to maintain a private board.

  • This is quite versatile and customizable.

Created using Moodzer

Personally, I use a website called 'Moodzer' to create my digital vision board. First, I look up images on Pinterest that inspire me and download them. Then, I go on Moodzer to create a collage of my liking. Or, you can use any photo collaging application of your choice.

How this works?

Make sure that your vision board is a depiction of what you want, how you want to feel, and what aligns with your core values in life.

Once you're done creating your vision board, place your board in such a place that you get to see it every day. If it's in your journal, review it from time to time. In my case, I place my digital collage as a widget on my home screen on my phone. If you'd like, you can set it as your wallpaper too.

We do this to make sure that we're aligned with our goals every day. Every time you look at your board, does it feel inspiring? Does it motivate you or put you in a good mood? As long as it makes you feel good and sets an inspiring mood, abundance is already on its way to you.

I did this every day for a few months while making tiny signs of progress towards my goals. The biggest factor that drives this into reality is the belief that you are worthy of these things. When you're making an effort to bring your goals to life, the universe automatically propels you forward to make it a reality.

Practice gratitude and open yourself up to abundance. Even if the things on your board don't manifest themselves exactly, similar things will make their way into your life. Creating a vision board isn't going to magically make things appear in your life. It is a way to keep your goals in mind and focus on them while the universe does the rest of its job.

Take care!
